  • Made in 2011, feels like it's made in 2006

  • screw the V, parallel looks grand

  • What is a sport today, was an ordinary necessity in Norway way back when. Living in a small house on a farm clinging to the walls of a fjord, this was the only way a man could get a goddamn break from the old lady, OK!? My grandpa would *laugh* at these "athletes", he wouldn't land until he reached the next parish! True story.

  • Could have done with the audio from the actual clips rather than the music

  • I am wondering if they had a longer slope, couldn't they go further? Technically if they had a steeper and longer hill, couldn't they "fly" further?

    • Yes, if you have enough place to land, as close to terminal velocity as you can get I guess. Also, their suits are a factor, the athletes try to get as close to the regulations as possible, without turning it in to a "wing suit". Windspeed and direction will also impact the lenght, as well as the athletes abilities (and weight) ofcourse.

  • am i the only one that still feels 2011 was just a couple years ago?

  • They should do it with a wingsuit 😉

  • There should still be a couple of competitions in the classic style in the season.

  • Excelente trabalho, parabéns. Que mudança, ao longo destes anos. Sem dúvida um desporto para (guerreiros) !!!

  • The music junked another video 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎💩

  • Why put the shit music on the video? College rock trash...

  • Great video once you smash the mute button.

  • Are the jumps getting bigger or are they always the same size? Feels like if you jump 246m on one of the older jumps you would land on the flat part.

    • I think the ramps themselves are unchanged....the outruns might be getting longer. Given how technique and equipment are resulting in longer flights...I mean, in the post 2000 ones you can SEE them generating lift near the end of flight.

  • It shouldn't count as a record if you don't stick the landing.

  • I wonder if we'll see 300m before the year 2060.

  • Seems like the record is broken multiple times in any given year. Strong, favorable winds should add an asterisk to the record. Breaking the 100m dash with a 20 mph wind at your back would be similar.

  • Thanks

  • You break record? I break you!

  • Planica in Slovakia 🇸🇰 yees (btw I am from Slovakia)

  • I expected the film quality to improve over the years, they must have used the same camera throughout.

  • Great vid!

  • There is a mistake in this schedule ... Ahonen with 240m with his crash isn´t an official WR ... than misses the world first 200m jump from Andreas Goldberger (202m also crash/hands in snow) because he jumped it before on the same day as Toni Nieminen 203m

  • My farts travel further

  • without helmet..

  • I could beat all of them

  • REPENT AND FOLLOW JESUS CHRIST BEFORE ITS TOO LATE

  • this is 0 like comment xd

  • No helmets back in the day.

  • I'm old, from the states, so I don't count but I remember Planica being something special. Speaking of Vikersund, IBU Antholz starts tomorrow. Cheers.

  • White Supremacists don't let Mexicans to compete in this sport. Mexicans could easily beat all these world records

  • I appreciate the idea, but the music selection in this video, while awful in quality, is just shit. Nevertheless it's nice to see how they jumped in the "old days"

  • I never would have guessed this song would be paired with a Green Day song, lol.

  • Jumping 150+ m without helmet... 😳😳

  • Ruined by the music!! 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

  • Let's take a moment to appreciate having a good day... 6:08 this man had a PB of 176.5m and ended up landing a 224.5m jump, talk about everything going right 😎

  • Oh my god the first ten seconds hit me right in the early PLthrow memories

  • safer without a helmet than with one which Increases the size of your head means more chance of hitting your head if you crash, we see zero evidence that helmets increase safety in any sport, in fact the opposite. There would be very small reduction in concussive forces to the brain as helmets are not good enough to reduce in the speeds involved.

  • Once you get into the 2000s, you can SEE these guys generating lift.

  • I know zero about ski jumping so how did the record jump 90 meters from the first record, the takeoff speeds were similar, the style looked similar ....

  • 1:56 Is that Toni Innauer watching his own jump?!

  • fun fact: none of them had wings 🎿

  • All I remember is the agony of the feet.

  • Steiner's 1974 and Ahonen's 2005 jump could not be world record, both are failed jumps.

  • Any record outside of PLANECA doesn't count I guess.

  • Just to be picky. This is ski flying, not jumping.

  • Nearly 100m increase from 1966 to today. Increadable performance from these athletes. Be safe all.

  • Can you imagine Kobe playing this game 👀

  • ANDREAS FELDER 1986 is missing!!

  • With the old technique they seemed to be levitating imo

  • Video is okay. Would be great without music but with commentators and fans.

  • Thought i was about to see something cool....what a fucking idiot!!!! Why would you add music to what might of been a cool video, couldn't watch 2 seconds of it. Major fail.

    • He is going to fix it after 9 years. Thank you for your opinion.

  • now why would you put someone imitating thinn lizzys music insead of thinn lizzy himself?

  • an dnow Stefan Kraft is holding it with 253,5

  • Where is Adam Małysz 225m

  • Where is Eddie xD?

  • Who is watching in 2020/2021?

  • Can we just get wing suits on these dudes and get down to business

  • Skinny boys can fly

  • But Janne Ahonen 240m in Planica wasn’t world record :)

  • Doesn't count if you crash!😳

  • Danke für das Video

  • Interesting. But why this music?

  • I pomyśleć, że teraz 150 metrów w vikersundzie to jest najgorzej.

  • Zrób film rekordy świata 1966-2017. czekam na niegov od kilku lat.

  • Damn crap music choice

  • R. I. P. Matti Nykänen (July 17, 1963 - February 3, 2019)

  • Junge

  • Schade das Video mit dieser Musik. 👎👎👎

  • Pjotr Fijas, 😄. IT should be Piotr

  • Tomas hoel and Jan hoel

  • Pavel ploc😃

  • Jens Weisflog is the best ever! And what a nice men!!!

  • No Pjotr only Piotr I'am Poland

  • A gdzie Adam Małysz bo też ma rekordy nawet nadal nie pobite :(

  • 7:34 This is the best competition in world. 4 world records.

  • Manfred wolf ist unser Trainer

  • Andreas Goldberger ist cool

  • You are not humans!!!

  • Pfft!! I can jump coast to coast. Just make me skis that are solar powered propeller powered with glider wings. And I need a storage compartment for beers.

  • Kiedyś ten sport był bardziej niebezpieczny

  • 2040 - 300 meters, new world record

  • They jumped without helmets. Today all pussies wear it.

  • Mute the sound before watching. You’re welcome.

  • Good songs

  • If Johan Remen did his 246.5 meter jump on the 146 meter record hill, he would have landed in the crowd at the end.

  • Horrible Music👎

  • How are they going further with less speed?

  • Just beautiful, humans are awesome!!

  • Matti Nykanen best of the best ever

  • Great archive of videos. Where did you get so old videos?

  • Matti hautameaki the best❤❤

  • Schlechte Musik gewählt

  • Where is the champion and master of ski jumping Adam Malysz????!
